Thank you for your interest in Oregon Rain Soap. Even though Oregon Rain Soap has only been in business since 2003, soap making has been in my family for many years and our mission is to provide the very best products for you and your family.

I learned to make soap from my Mom. She made her first batch in the early 1970's. My brother had terrible acne and my Mom had tried lots of things to clear it up. She had read that oatmeal soap was great for the complexion. So one day my cousin, Jan, and my Mom decided to make a batch of soap. To their amazement it worked wonderful for my brother's skin as well as everyone else in the family. From that day on we never used "store bought" soap again.

Then in 1990, I wanted to try my hand at making soap. My parents leant me their molds and they gave me some special tips on making soap from the heart. My friends and family were very supportive and loved my soap. It wasn't until I met my husband, Rob, that I began adding scent. He knew how much I loved scented soaps so he went out and bought me my first essential oils. We spent many hours researching and experimenting with different scents and herbs. Rob enjoyed this process so much that he decided to help me make soap.

Some say that with tragedy comes hope. I believe this is true. Rob worked for a large corporation managing the states of Alaska and Hawaii. He had worked there for 13 years and as many businesses were forced to do, they cut back on jobs. Unexpectedly, he was laid off. With much encouragement and support from our friends and family we decided to start Oregon Rain Soap and share our products with others. We are now working full time making our products. We work much harder now than we have with any of our other jobs.
